Near/Far

The distance between
us makes no
difference.
Whether you are
so close that I
could feel your
heart, or whether
you are far that I
could only think
of your face
smiling at me.

We may be separated
by thousands of miles
and millions of seconds,
or divided only
by a breath.
You may be out
of reach, or you may
be touching me.
All I know is
this I feel will
never be known.

Because we would
never be together
the way I
want us to be.
